You Are No Longer Fighting to Be Chosen
There may have been a time when being chosen felt like proof that you were worthy.
Chosen for the opportunity.
Chosen for the relationship.
Chosen for the friendship.
Chosen to be heard, valued, included, or loved.
You may have learned to work harder, give more, remain quiet, or become who others needed you to be in the hope that someone would finally recognize your worth.
But your worth was never created by someone else’s ability to see it.
You were worthy before the invitation.
Before the approval.
Before the acceptance.
Before anyone decided whether you belonged.
Healing begins to change us when we stop standing outside of ourselves, waiting for permission to enter.
You no longer have to audition for spaces that require you to abandon your truth.
You no longer have to compete for care.
You no longer have to prove that you are deserving of respect, tenderness, reciprocity, or peace.
Not being chosen by someone else does not mean you were rejected by life.
Sometimes it means you are being redirected toward spaces where your presence does not need to be negotiated.
And sometimes the person who must finally choose you is you.
Choose the life that allows you to breathe.
Choose the relationships where care moves in both directions.
Choose the spaces where your voice does not have to shrink.
Choose the truth within you, even when it asks you to release what you once hoped would validate you.
You are no longer fighting to be chosen.
You are learning to choose yourself.
Reflection prompt
Where are you still waiting for someone else’s approval before allowing yourself to move forward?
Truth to carry with you
I do not have to be chosen by others to know that I am worthy.
